JB Brand Primary School get ready for the installation of the microgrid
In October 2023 he Fraunhofer IWU and Krenkel Abwassertechnik GmbH were preparing the installation of the microgrid and the water treatment system at the JB Brand Primary School in Utuseb, J. Josti. For this purpose, the delegation of the HYGO project team met with Neville Andre Itope, the Governor of Erongo Region based in Swakopmund, Hon, and the school management of the JB Brand Primary School to prepare for the construction of these important resources.
Additionally, a delegation from Namibia visited the Referenzfabrik.H2 at the Fraunhofer IWU in Germany to further deepen the planning.
Kick-Off in Namibia March 20th to 27th 2023
We are excited to announce the launch of our project "HygO". Our goal is to develop a revolutionary concept for green energy and clean water in Namibia. To achieve this, we are working on developing an autonomous energy system in the form of a microgrid. With an electrolyzer, we store renewable energy in the form of hydrogen, which can be reconverted into electricity using a fuel cell when needed. Additionally, we utilize the oxygen produced during electrolysis to treat dirty or non-potable water into drinkable water using advanced filtration technology.
The objective of HygO is to create robust and efficient microgrids that can be used in various scenarios. By innovatively using the electrolysis by-product of oxygen and other filtration technologies, we can purify water from "dirty-water". We are looking forward to the future and the successful implementation of our project.
At the beginning of our project, all project partners will travel to Namibia during the week of March 20th to 27th to network with local partners and define a concrete on-site application scenario.
